60 ml 2 fl oz rye whiskey
22.5 ml 3/4 fl oz sweet vermouth
3 ml 1/10 fl oz Angostura bitters
Equipment
- Mixing Glass
- Jigger
- Bar spoon
- Coupe or Martini glass
Instructions
- Chill a coupe or martini glass by filling it with ice and setting it aside.
- In a mixing glass, combine rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, and Angostura bitters.
- Fill the mixing glass with ice.
- Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture gently for 10-20 seconds to combine and chill the ingredients.
- Discard the ice from the chilled coupe or martini glass.
- Rinse the glass with a small amount of absinthe by pouring it into the glass, swirling it around to coat the interior, and discarding the excess.
- Carefully pour the chilled and stirred cocktail mixture into the rinsed glass.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Rinsing the glass with absinthe provides a subtle hint of its flavor without overpowering the cocktail.
