Ingredients

  • Absinthe (to rinse the glass)

  • 60 ml 2 fl oz rye whiskey

  • 22.5 ml 3/4 fl oz sweet vermouth

  • 3 ml 1/10 fl oz Angostura bitters

Equipment

  • Mixing Glass
  • Jigger
  • Bar spoon
  • Coupe or Martini glass

Instructions

  • Chill a coupe or martini glass by filling it with ice and setting it aside.
  • In a mixing glass, combine rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, and Angostura bitters.
  • Fill the mixing glass with ice.
  • Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture gently for 10-20 seconds to combine and chill the ingredients.
  • Discard the ice from the chilled coupe or martini glass.
  • Rinse the glass with a small amount of absinthe by pouring it into the glass, swirling it around to coat the interior, and discarding the excess.
  • Carefully pour the chilled and stirred cocktail mixture into the rinsed glass.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Rinsing the glass with absinthe provides a subtle hint of its flavor without overpowering the cocktail.
