Ingredients

  • 120 ml 4 fl oz Spanish red wine (Tempranillo or Garnacha)

  • 30 ml 1 fl oz fresh orange juice

  • 15 ml 1/2 fl oz brandy

  • 10 ml 1/3 fl oz triple sec

  • 1 teaspoon 1 tsp fresh lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon 1 tsp simple syrup

  • 1/4 1/4 orange, sliced

  • 1/4 1/4 apple, diced (red or green)

  • 1/4 1/4 lemon, sliced

  • Ice cubes

Equipment

  • Wine glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Jigger

Instructions

  • Slice the orange and lemon into thin half-moons or wedges. Core and dice the apple into small chunks.
  • Add the fruit pieces to your wine glass, saving a few pieces for garnish.
  • Pour the brandy, triple sec, simple syrup, orange juice, and lemon juice over the fruit.
  • Gently muddle or press the fruit slightly with your mixing spoon to release some of the juices.
  • Pour the red wine over the fruit mixture and stir gently to combine.
  • For best results, refrigerate for 2-4 hours to allow the flavors to meld together.
  • When ready to serve, add ice cubes and garnish with the reserved fruit slices.

Notes

  • Sangria actually tastes better when made a day in advance, as this allows the fruit flavors to fully infuse into the wine.
