Ingredients

  • 60 ml 2 fl oz tequila blanco

  • 60 ml 2 fl oz sweet and sour mix

  • 30 ml 1 fl oz triple sec

  • 30 ml 1 fl oz freshly squeezed lime juice

  • 30 ml 1 fl oz prickly pear syrup

  • Salt for rimming the glass

  • Lime wedge, for garnish

Equipment

  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Hawthorne strainer
  • Jigger
  • Rock glass

Instructions

  • Moisten the rim of a glass with a lime wedge. Dip the rim into a shallow dish filled with salt to create a salted rim.
  • In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine tequila, sweet and sour mix, triple sec, lime juice, and prickly pear syrup. Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until well-chilled.
  • Strain the mixture into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim of the glass and serve.

Notes

  • To create the perfect prickly pear syrup, peel and juice prickly pears, then simmer the juice with an equal part of sugar until fully dissolved.
