Ingredients

  • 60 ml 2 fl oz bourbon or rye whiskey

  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon honey

  • 2 dashes 2 dashes Angostura bitters

  • Orange peel, for garnish

  • Ice cubes

Equipment

  • Old Fashioned glass
  • Bar spoon

Instructions

  • Place the honey in the bottom of the Old Fashioned glass. Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.
  • Stir the honey and bitters together until the honey is dissolved.
  • Pour in the bourbon or rye whiskey and stir to combine.
  • Add a large ice cube or several smaller cubes to the glass.
  • Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink by holding it over the glass and gently squeezing it. Rub the peel around the rim of the glass, then drop it into the cocktail.

Notes

  • For an even smoother blend, warm the honey slightly before mixing it with the bitters. This helps it dissolve more easily and evenly into the drink.
