- Begin by chilling your coupe or martini glass in the freezer to ensure your cocktail stays cold longer.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the rye whiskey (or bourbon), sweet vermouth, maple syrup, and Angostura bitters.
- Fill the shaker with ice cubes to the top. This helps in diluting the cocktail slightly and brings it to the perfect temperature.
- Traditionally, Manhattans are stirred, so use a bar spoon to stir the cocktail in the shaker for about 30 seconds. However, feel free to shake if you prefer a slightly more diluted cocktail.
