Ingredients

  • 22.5 ml 2/3 fl oz crème de cassis (blackcurrant liqueur)

  • 120 ml 4 fl oz champagne or sparkling wine, chilled

  • Fresh blackberry or raspberry for garnish (optional)

Equipment

  • Champagne glass
  • Jigger
  • Bar spoon

Instructions

  • Chill your champagne flute in the freezer for about 10 minutes before preparing the cocktail.
  • Pour the crème de cassis into the bottom of the chilled champagne flute.
  • Slowly add the chilled champagne or sparkling wine, pouring it down the side of the glass to preserve the bubbles.
  • Gently stir with a bar spoon.
  • Garnish with a fresh blackberry or raspberry dropped into the glass.

Notes

  • For the most authentic experience, use a true French champagne, but a good quality Prosecco or other sparkling wine works beautifully as well.
