Ingredients

  • 45 ml 1 1/2 fl oz Gin

  • 22.5 ml 3/4 fl oz Amaro

  • 22.5 ml 3/4 fl oz Chai Simple Syrup

  • 15 ml 1/2 fl oz Brandy

  • Ice

  • Masala Chai Simple Syrup
  • 1 1 Cinnamon Stick

  • 1 1 Star Anise

  • 4 4 whole cloves

  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon Black Peppercorns

  • 8 8 Green Cardamom Pods

  • 2 tablespoon 2 tablespoon Fresh Ginger (grated)

  • 160 ml 2/3 cup Water

  • 135 g 2/3 cup Sugar

  • 1 1 Black Tea Bag

Instructions

  • Make the Masala Chai Simple Syrup:
  • In a small saucepan, combine the cinnamon stick, star anise, cloves, black peppercorns, green cardamom pods, and grated ginger with 2/3 cup of water.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes to extract the flavors.
  • Stir in the sugar until fully dissolved, then add the black tea bag and steep for 5 minutes.
  • Remove the tea bag, strain the syrup into a container to remove the spices, and allow it to cool completely.
  • Make the Cocktail:
  • Fill the shaker halfway with ice.
  • Pour the gin, amaro, chai simple syrup, and brandy into the shaker.
  • Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the mixture is well-chilled.
  • Strain the cocktail into a old fashioned glass over a large ice cube.
  • Add a lemon twist or a star anise pod for a striking presentation.
