Ingredients

  • 60 ml 2 fl oz gin

  • 15 ml 1/2 fl oz fresh lime juice

  • 15 ml 1/2 fl oz simple syrup

  • 4-5 4-5 fresh basil leaves

  • 3-4 3-4 cucumber slices

  • Ice cubes

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler
  • Strainer
  • Jigger
  • Martini glass

Instructions

  • In your cocktail shaker, add the fresh basil leaves and cucumber slices. Gently muddle them using a muddler or the back of a spoon. This step releases the aromatic oils from the basil and the refreshing juices from the cucumber.
  • Pour in the gin, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup over the muddled ingredients. The simple syrup adds a touch of sweetness, balancing the tanginess of the lime juice.
  • Add ice cubes to the shaker, then secure the lid. Shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. This chills the mixture and fully incorporates the flavors.
  • Strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass, using a fine strainer to catch any small pieces of basil or cucumber.
  • Optionally, garnish with a thin slice of cucumber or a small basil leaf for an extra touch of elegance.

Notes

  • To elevate your Cucumber Basil Martini, try using a basil-infused gin. Simply steep a few fresh basil leaves in your gin for 24 hours before making the cocktail. This will add an extra depth of flavor to your drink.
