Ingredients

  • 60 ml 2 fl oz Bourbon

  • 15 ml 1/2 fl oz Cointreau

  • 1 1 Sugar Cube

  • 2 dashes 2 Angostura Bitters

  • Orange Peel

  • Ice Cubes

Equipment

  • Old Fashioned Glass
  • Jigger
  • Bar Spoon
  • Muddler

Instructions

  • Place a sugar cube at the bottom of an Old Fashioned glass.
  • Soak the sugar cube with 2-3 dashes of Angostura bitters.
  • Use a muddler to crush the sugar cube until it dissolves in the bitters, forming a paste at the bottom of the glass.
  • Pour the Cointreau and bourbon into the glass.
  • Add a large ice cube or several smaller ones, and stir the mixture gently for about 20 seconds to chill and dilute the drink slightly.
  • Express the oils from an orange peel over the top of the drink by twisting it, then drop it into the glass as a garnish.
