Breakfast Martini Cocktail Recipe

The Breakfast Martini is a sophisticated yet playful cocktail that brings a touch of morning indulgence to your evenings. This modern classic was created in the late 1990s by British bartender Salvatore Calabrese, drawing inspiration from his wife’s marmalade-on-toast breakfast routine. Featuring gin, orange marmalade, and citrus, it’s a zesty and slightly sweet concoction that’s perfect for brunch or a relaxed evening drink.

Ingredients

  • 45 ml 1 1/2 fl oz Gin

  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon Orange marmalade

  • 15 ml 1/2 fl oz Triple sec

  • 15 ml 1/2 fl oz Fresh lemon juice

  • Ice cubes

Equipment

  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Jigger
  • Hawthorne strainer
  • Martini glass

Instructions

  • Place your martini glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.
  • Add the gin, orange marmalade, triple sec, and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker.
  • Add a handful of ice cubes to the shaker. Shake well for 15-20 seconds to thoroughly mix and chill the drink. The marmalade should dissolve into the liquid.
  • Discard the ice or water from the martini glass. Strain the cocktail into the glass using a Hawthorne strainer and optionally a fine mesh strainer for a silky finish.
  • Garnish with a thin slice of orange peel or a twist, and serve immediately.
