Ingredients

  • 60 ml 2 fl oz bourbon

  • 22.5 ml 3/4 fl oz freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • 15 ml 1/2 fl oz simple syrup

  • 1 1 egg white

  • Ice

  • lemon wheel or cherry

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger
  • Strainer
  • Citrus juicer
  • Rocks glass

Instructions

  • Add the bourbon, freshly squeezed lemon juice, simple syrup, and egg white (if using) into your cocktail shaker.
  • Shake the ingredients without ice for about 15 seconds. This helps to emulsify the egg white and gives the cocktail a velvety texture.
  • Fill the shaker with ice and shake again for 10–15 seconds until well-chilled.
  • Strain the mixture into an old-fashioned glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Add a lemon wheel or a cherry on top for garnish.

Notes

  • If you want a frothier texture without using egg white, you can shake the ingredients with aquafaba (the liquid from canned chickpeas) as a substitute.
