Ingredients

  • 60 ml 2 fl oz blanco tequila

  • 120 ml 4 fl oz tomato juice

  • 15 ml 1/2 fl oz fresh lime juice

  • 2 dashes 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce

  • 2 dashes 2 dashes hot sauce (Tabasco or your preferred brand)

  • 1 pinch 1 pinch celery salt

  • 1 pinch 1 pinch black pepper

  • 1 pinch 1 pinch ground cumin (for that Mexican touch)

  • 1 pinch 1 pinch garlic powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon 1/4 tsp prepared horseradish (optional)

Equipment

  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Jigger
  • Hawthorne strainer
  • Bar spoon
  • Highball glass

Instructions

  • Fill your highball glass with ice to chill while preparing the cocktail.
  • In a cocktail shaker or mixing glass, combine the tomato juice, lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, celery salt, black pepper, cumin, garlic powder, and horseradish (if using).
  • Stir well to combine all ingredients and dissolve the spices.
  • Add the tequila and stir again.
  • Empty the ice from your chilled glass (or keep it if you prefer your drink over ice).
  • Strain the mixture into the glass.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge, celery stalk, or pickled jalapeño for an authentic Mexican touch.

Notes

  • For an extra-special Bloody Maria, try rimming your glass with a mixture of salt, chili powder, and ground cumin before pouring. This adds another layer of flavor and an attractive presentation.
