Bijou Cocktail Recipe

The Bijou cocktail is a true classic that sparkles with complexity and herbal depth. Dating back to the late 19th century, this gem (its name means “jewel” in French) combines the botanical punch of gin, the herbal intensity of Green Chartreuse, and the sweet complexity of vermouth into a sophisticated drink that’s greater than the sum of its parts. Created by Harry Johnson, one of the fathers of professional bartending, the Bijou represents the thoughtful craftsmanship of the first golden age of cocktails. Though it nearly disappeared during Prohibition, this three-ingredient masterpiece has found new life in today’s craft cocktail renaissance.
