Ingredients

  • 60 ml 2 fl oz gin

  • 15 ml 1/2 fl oz maraschino liqueur

  • 15 ml 1/2 fl oz freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • 7.5 ml 1/4 fl oz crème de violette

  • 1 teaspoon 1 tsp simple syrup (optional, for slightly sweeter taste)

  • Ice cubes

Equipment

  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Hawthorne strainer
  • Jigger
  • Coupe glass

Instructions

  • Chill your cocktail glass by filling it with ice and water while you prepare the drink.
  • Add the gin, maraschino liqueur, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and crème de violette to your cocktail shaker.
  • Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well-chilled.
  • Empty the ice water from your cocktail glass.
  • Double-strain the cocktail through both a Hawthorne strainer and fine mesh strainer into the chilled glass to ensure a smooth texture.
  • Garnish with a brandied cherry or a twist of lemon peel (optional).

Notes

  • For the most authentic experience, look for Luxardo maraschino liqueur, which has a distinctive dry cherry flavor unlike the sweeter varieties.
