Ingredients

  • 60 ml 2 fl oz reposado tequila

  • 30 ml 1 fl oz passion fruit purée

  • 22.5 ml 3/4 fl oz orange liqueur

  • 22.5 ml 3/4 fl oz fresh lime juice

  • 22.5 ml 3/4 fl oz simple syrup

  • Ice cubes

  • Salt for rimming (optional)

  • Lime wheel or passion fruit half for garnish

Equipment

  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Hawthorne strainer
  • Jigger
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Citrus press
  • Bar spoon
  • Rock glass

Instructions

  • If using fresh passion fruit, cut them in half and scoop the pulp into a fine mesh strainer set over a bowl. Press with a spoon to extract the juice, discarding the seeds.
  • If desired, run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass and dip in salt.
  • Fill your glass with ice and set aside.
  • Add the tequila, passion fruit purée, orange liqueur, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup to your cocktail shaker.
  • Fill the shaker halfway with ice and shake vigorously for 12-15 seconds until well-chilled.
  • Strain the cocktail into your prepared glass.
  • Garnish with a lime wheel or half a passion fruit.

Notes

  • For the most authentic flavor, use fresh passion fruit rather than pre-made syrup. The fresh fruit provides more complexity and bright acidity.
