Ingredients

  • 45 ml 1 1/2 fl oz tequila

  • 30 ml 1 fl oz blood orange juice

  • 15 ml 1/2 fl oz lime juice

  • 15 ml 1/2 fl oz triple sec

  • 15 ml 1/2 fl oz simple syrup

  • Salt or sugar for rimming

  • Blood orange or lime wheel for garnish

Equipment

  • Margarita glass

Instructions

  • Rim the edge of a margarita glass with salt or sugar by rubbing a lime wedge around the rim and then dipping it into a plate of salt or sugar. Set aside.
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, blood orange juice, lime juice, triple sec, and simple syrup.
  • Add ice to the shaker, cover, and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until the mixture is chilled.
  • Strain the mixture into the prepared margarita glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with a slice of blood orange or lime wheel on the rim of the glass.
