Ingredients

  • 60 ml 2 fl oz tequila blanco

  • 120 ml 4 fl oz fresh watermelon juice

  • 60 ml 2 fl oz grapefruit soda (or fresh grapefruit juice with a splash of soda water)

  • 15 ml 1/2 fl oz lime juice

  • 10 ml 1/3 fl oz agave syrup

  • 1 pinch 1 pinch salt

  • Ice cubes

  • Watermelon wedge or slice (optional)

  • Salt or Tajín for rimming the glass (optional)

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger
  • Strainer
  • Rocks glass

Instructions

  • If using fresh watermelon, muddle or blend a few watermelon chunks and strain the juice into a shaker.
  • Run a lime wedge around the rim of your rocks glass and dip it in salt or Tajín for a tangy, spicy kick.
  • In a shaker, combine tequila, watermelon juice, grapefruit soda (or juice), lime juice, and agave syrup (if using). Add a pinch of salt and fill the shaker with ice.
  • Shake well for about 10-15 seconds, then strain the mixture into your prepared glass over fresh ice.
  • Add a watermelon wedge and a lime wheel for garnish.

Notes

  • Adjust the level of sweetness by adding more agave syrup, or spice it up by using Tajín to rim the glass instead of salt.
