Ingredients
60 ml 2 fl oz tequila blanco
120 ml 4 fl oz fresh watermelon juice
60 ml 2 fl oz grapefruit soda (or fresh grapefruit juice with a splash of soda water)
15 ml 1/2 fl oz lime juice
10 ml 1/3 fl oz agave syrup
1 pinch 1 pinch salt
Ice cubes
Watermelon wedge or slice (optional)
Salt or Tajín for rimming the glass (optional)
Equipment
- Cocktail shaker
- Jigger
- Strainer
- Rocks glass
Instructions
- If using fresh watermelon, muddle or blend a few watermelon chunks and strain the juice into a shaker.
- Run a lime wedge around the rim of your rocks glass and dip it in salt or Tajín for a tangy, spicy kick.
- In a shaker, combine tequila, watermelon juice, grapefruit soda (or juice), lime juice, and agave syrup (if using). Add a pinch of salt and fill the shaker with ice.
- Shake well for about 10-15 seconds, then strain the mixture into your prepared glass over fresh ice.
- Add a watermelon wedge and a lime wheel for garnish.
Notes
- Adjust the level of sweetness by adding more agave syrup, or spice it up by using Tajín to rim the glass instead of salt.
