Ingredients

  • 60 ml 2 1/7 fl oz Rye whiskey

  • 30 ml 1 fl oz Sweet vermouth

  • 15 ml 1/2 fl oz Blood orange juice

  • 2 dashes 2 dashes Blood orange bitters

  • Ice

  • Blood orange slice or twist

Equipment

  • Mixing glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Strainer
  • Coupe or martini glass

Instructions

  • Begin by chilling your coupe or martini glass in the freezer or by filling it with ice water.
  • In a mixing glass, add the rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, blood orange juice, and blood orange bitters.
  • Fill the shaker or mixing glass with ice. Stir the mixture gently for about 20-30 seconds until well-chilled.
  • Discard the ice or water from your chilled glass. Strain the cocktail mixture into the glass.
  • Garnish with a slice of blood orange or a twist of blood orange peel.
